Blurb

The former Tin Gypsy motorcycle club has everyone in Clifton Forge, Montana convinced they’ve locked their clubhouse doors and ripped off their patches. Everyone but Bryce Ryan. There’s more happening at the club’s garage than muscle car restorations and Harley rebuilds. Her instincts are screaming there’s a story—one she’s going to tell.

As the new owner of the small town’s newspaper, Bryce is hungry for more than birth announcements and obituaries. When a woman is brutally killed and all signs point to the Tin Gypsies, Bryce is determined to expose the club and their leader, Kingston “Dash” Slater, as murderers.

Bryce bests Dash match after match, disappointed her rugged and handsome opponent turns out to be an underwhelming adversary. Secrets are exposed. Truths defeat lies. Bryce is poised to win this battle in a landslide.

Then Dash breaks all the rules and tips the scales.

One kiss, and she’s fighting to save more than just her story. She’s fighting to save her heart from the Gypsy King.

5 stars!

What a fantastic start to a new series! A smart, confident and driven heroine, an ex-MC, motorcycle-riding badass hero, a murder mystery surrounded by family drama and a small-town, enemies-to-lovers romance that is sexy, snarky, and dripping with chemistry. I was completely hooked from the very beginning, and I couldn’t put this book down. It’s a fantastic read, and I loved it!

“Let’s call a truce.”
“A truce?” I scoffed. “Why would I agree to a truce? I’m winning.”
“Maybe.”
Bullshit. “Definitely.”

Bryce Ryan is an ex-news anchor who has followed her parents to the small town of Clifton Forge in Montana where her father has bought the local newspaper. Keen to get away from the glitz of TV and get back into real journalism where she can make a difference, Bryce has thrown herself into her new life, and she sniffs out a story with the now-disbanded Tin Gypsy motorcycle club. Why did they split? What are the old members doing now? Is their garage their only business in town, or are they hiding something? And when their ex-President is charged with murder, it provides her the perfect opportunity to go diving in.

Kingston ‘Dash’ Slater was the President of the Tin Gypsy MC, like his father before him, and it’s his father who has been arrested. He’s determined to prove his father’s innocence, but there’s a nosy, distractingly gorgeous journalist sniffing around and trying to dig up dirt. After a few snark-filled encounters, he figures his best option is to offer to work with her to uncover the truth, and it doesn’t take long for their oh-so-obvious attraction to become epic sexual tension that changes everything between them.

We’d only shared a single kiss, but he was right. Given the sparks that crackled when we were in the same room, we’d be incredible together. The chemistry, mixed with our mutual dislike of one other, would ignite like fireworks. We’d probably set the sheets on fire.

OMG, I love this relationship! The attraction is instant, you can feel the sizzle between them, and every single encounter is deliciously tantalizing. Whether they are bickering, flirting, or opening up to each other with deep conversations, there’s this irresistible thing between them that cannot be ignored. Dash and Bryce are real and relatable, and as they dive in to explore all of that chemistry, they keep things honest and they don’t play games, and I love that! I could feel their passion for each other, I could feel as things began to get deeper than either of them expected, and I could feel as they fell hard and completely for each other. And I loved every moment of it!

“What’s going on, Dash? With us?”
“I don’t know. It’s more than I thought it would be.” He tucked a lock of hair behind my ear. “You kind of snuck up on me.”
I smiled. “You snuck up on me too.”

And as Bryce loses her heart to the badass ex-biker, she comes to understand him and his world and she realises that not everything is as it seems. Secrets are uncovered, heartbreak and lies are revealed, and danger still lurks. Their worlds are about to get tipped upside down, and it’s an exciting, heartwrenching and romantic ride.

This is such a great read! I love these characters, I love their stories, I love their family and friends, and I loved the romance. I’m not a huge fan of mystery/suspense, but Perry does this one really well, injecting just the right amount of intrigue to the story, with a lot of heart and balancing it well with everything else that is happening.

This book has a very loose tie-in to Perry’s other work – Dash is the brother of Nick from The Clover Chapel, and he did actually appear in that book. But this book is a separate story that stands on its own, and it’s a wonderful beginning to the series. I assume books will be coming for the boys that work at Dash’s garage, and with the murder mystery left unsolved, I’m really intrigued to see where the series goes from here – especially after those hints about Isiah’s book up next… so exciting!

Despite the ongoing mystery, Dash and Bryce’s story ends beautifully, and I loved seeing them find their HEA.

This is such a great read, I’m eagerly looking forward to more.
