I’m about to lose everything.
My home. My name. My future.

My husband was involved in something that could cost us our lives, and on his deathbed, he demands my daughter and I flee Britain.

I had no idea he found her biological father, Holden James, in Rose Canyon, and that’s where we’d start over.

The moment we see each other, feelings I’d long forgotten rush over me. Holden doesn’t hesitate to care for us. We find ourselves reaching for each other, even when we should hold back. His smile warms me, his arms protect me, and against my better judgment, I fall for him. All the possibilities of a future are threatened by a looming past.

I’m being hunted, and it’s just a matter of time before someone finds me guilty of crimes I didn’t commit. Whatever trouble my husband was involved in won’t evade me forever.

I am trying to keep my promise and stay for Holden, but I don’t know how long it’ll be before we have to run.

My name was Sophie Pearson, but I vanished, just like my hope to ever find love again.

“I want you to be mine just as much as I’m yours.”

The third and final book in the Rose Canyon series, this is sweet and emotional romantic suspense love story with an almost-second-chance-romance, a surprise toddler, and all the swoon!

Holden is one of three best friends who have had books in this series, and his whole world is rocked when a woman from his past arrives in town, with her three year old daughter – his daughter. Holden and Sophie met four years previously in Vegas, they were both drunk, and they shared a steamy hook up before he passed out, and she returned home to the UK. Now, Sophie is a newly-widowed single mother on the run from an unknown threat, and her late husband (actually her childhood best friend with whom she had a marriage of convenience) has sent her into the arms of the man that she wasn’t able to find, but who will protect her and their little girl with his life.

Sophie had no idea where she was going when she was sent to Rose Canyon. She was given vague details about deadly threats, and was told to follow instructions set out for her, and now here she is, faced with the man that she’s never been able to forget about. Grieving and traumatised, she has no idea what’s going on, so when Holden offers her and Eden a place to stay at his home, she gratefully accepts and the surprise family start to get to know each other for real.

It’s a great set-up, and it’s immediately clear that even though they only met briefly once before, there’s a connection between Holden and Sophie that is more than just sharing their little girl.

“I spent the last four years wondering about the man who I made a child with. I’d fantasized about you, dreamt of the kind of person I hoped you were. Now I know, and I can’t quite believe you’re real.”

Holden is the ultimate nice guy – caring and supportive, and there for Sophie and Eden in just the way that they need, and he accepts them into his life whole-heartedly and without question, holding absolutely nothing back.

“How can you feel this way about her already?” I ask. “You love her.”
“She’s my daughter.”
“But . . . you only just found out.”
Holden shifts to face me better. “When they placed her in your arms after you gave birth, did it take days or a moment to love that child?”
I answer instantly. “Not even a moment.”
“The moment I saw her, I knew she was mine, and I felt the same way. I don’t need weeks or months to love that child. She’s mine . . . ours.”

As they actually get to know each other, feelings quickly develop. Holden wastes no time in making Sophie and Eden the centre of his world, and he’s so beautifully open with her.

“I want to be a part of your life, not just as Eden’s father. You can set the pace on how fast or slow we take this, but I’m here and will wait if that’s what you want.”

They talk to each other, they are honest and functional, and I loved how Holden had no hesitance in putting himself out there. It’s sweet, emotional and passionate, but it did move really quickly and (for me) lacked the build-up and sense of anticipation that I love in a romance. But I did love that Holden is so beautifully ‘all in’ with his girls.

“We found you, and she can have her father.”
Holden turns his head back to me. “And can I have more, Sophie? Can I have you?”

Corinne Michaels really brings the feels with this one! I mean, I was in actual tears in the first chapter! How often does that happen? The suspense storyline had my heart pounding and is also full of drama, so this is quite an intense read in places. There is a connection to the mystery/suspense storylines in the earlier books in the series, and we finally get a conclusion for that, so I’d recommend reading these books in order, and the boys from the Salvation series continue to make a very welcome appearance.

This is a really cute read. It’s a low-angst romance that is high on swoon, with an irresistible hero, a strong heroine, and an adorable little girl for them both to love on.

I really enjoyed this one – 4 stars.
