Kind, intelligent, and thoughtful, Alessandra Davenport has played the role of trophy wife for years.

She stood by her husband while he built an empire, but now that they’ve reached the top, she realizes he’s no longer the man she fell for.

When it becomes clear that she’ll always come second to his work, she finally takes charge of her life and puts herself first—even if it means leaving the only man she’s ever loved.

But what she didn’t count on was his refusal to let her go…or for him to fight for their marriage, no matter what it takes.

4.5 stars!

Oh, my heart, this story was just what I wanted for Dominic and Alessandra! A second chance romance with one very determined hero fighting hard to win back his wife, and the love of his life. It’s passionate and super swoony, and such a gorgeous read. I loved it.

The third book in the Kings of Sin series, this can be read as a standalone, but beware it features characters from previous books and there has been some build up to this story in the series so far. Over the last couple of books, we have seen quiet trophy wife Alessandra growing close to the girls from the first two books, and we’ve seen her continuously ignored by her workaholic, billionaire husband.

College sweethearts, Dominic and Alessandra met when he was just starting out in the world. They fell in mad love and they love each other fiercely, and Alessandra has been at Dominic’s side for the last decade while he made his fortune. Now, he’s constantly at the office, he forgets about dates, and he barely sees his devoted wife. She’s struggled for years to put up with it, supporting the man she loves at a heartbreaking cost to herself. But she now realises that the man she is married to is no longer the man she fell for, and for her own sanity and self-worth, she needs to let go and move on.

Alessandra leaving is the biggest shock of Dominic’s life. His early life of poverty drove him to work hard, desperate to prove himself and create the security for his family that he craves. He never even fathomed that his wife was unhappy, but it’s a massive wake up call for him as he realises how much he took her love and her presence in his life for granted, and he has no intention of letting her get away.

“I would stalk you if it meant you’d talk to me again.”
“How romantic.”
“I’m past romantic, Alessandra. I’m desperate.”

We all love a man who fights for the woman he loves, and holy wow, Dominic puts up on hell of a fight. It’s an epic display of groveling that won my skeptical heart over and had me swooning madly!

“You can go on as many dates as you want, amor … But no one will love you like I do. You and I. There is no comparison.”

He has a battle on his hands, but proves himself up for the challenge. And as he goes about righting his wrongs and winning back the love of his life, it’s the beginning of a journey for him to really look at his life and figure out what is important to him. Alessandra is doing the same thing, and she shows so much strength as she begins to create a life for herself outside of her marriage, being brave enough to fight for what she needs, but still being gracious enough to be honest with Dominic and help him understand where she’s at.

“You broke my heart, and you weren’t even there to witness it.”

The connection between them is irresistible as they find themselves drawn together over and over again. It’s a slow but realistic journey for two people who are figuring their lives out, still deeply in love, but who both need to stop and re-set. And oh, the feels.

“Give us another chance,” he begged. “One last chance. I swear I won’t fuck it up. I know my word doesn’t mean much to you anymore, but tell me what you want me to do, and I’ll do it.” His tears dripped into my own. “Anything. Please.”

It’s a hard fight, and neither of them are afraid to put themselves out there, but it’s a fight that is well worth it, and I loved watching these two work through so much to find their happy once again.

“You’re it for me. In every iteration of every life. Things may have changed since we got married, but you and me? We were always meant for forever.”

While it’s all playing out, we get to see the characters from previous books of the series, and I loved seeing them all so up in each other’s lives, and there is some gorgeous progression for their stories. There’s also a minor mystery/suspense storyline which is intriguing, and which points to a potential new book for the series, but next up is Sloane, and I am so looking forward to her and Xavier’s book!

I loved this story. It’s emotional and romantic, and so freaking swoony. Such a gorgeous read.

4.5 stars.
