This is a short (161 page) story that falls in between The Primal of Blood and Bone and The Throne of Bone and Ash in the Blood and Ash series. Jennifer L. Armentrout has released it as a free read and honestly, after the trauma of the last book of the series, we deserve this!

Like a lot of readers, I was left bewildered and completely shell-shocked at the end of POBAB, but this novella does provide some relief. Picking up the story right where the last one left off, it’s multi-POV from Poppy, Casteel and Kieran. It’s a lot of the same and doesn’t really progress the storyline, but it shows us just a little bit more and provides reassurance following some of those big twists that were so shocking in the last book Casteel is still in there!.

“Nothing and no one, not a Primal of Death nor the Queen of the Gods herself, nor any so-called Fates can stop me. If need be, I will go through any who stands in my way.” I let silence fall for a few seconds to give that promise time to etch those words into their bones. “I will get to her.”

The beginning of this series was absolutely magical, but after prequels, extra books, unexpected directions, and YEARS later, I’m ready for it to finish. Looking forward to the final book to see how it’s all going to end.
