Ada Rose never expected to find herself homeless in her thirties. Then again, she also never thought she’d encounter a man as heartless as Jonathan Oaks. Her job managing a care home for the elderly is a struggle and the sudden death of her father and stepmother—who she had been living with— has thrown her world into disarray. The house is left to Jonathan, her stepmother’s estranged son, and he wants Ada gone ASAP.

In fact, he’s given her a week to pack her things and move out.

As a resident in the home, Ada knows she has certain rights but her pride gets the better of her. If Jonathan wants her gone then she’ll go, and finding herself out of options, resorts to sleeping in her car. But she’s a survivor and has gotten through a lot worse.

After a week and still finding no apartments in her price range, Ada is getting desperate. She receives a call from Jonathan requesting she come collect some of her late father’s belongings. She doesn’t expect him to be there when she drops by, and after he takes one look at Ada’s possessions stuffed into her car she’s filled with a sense of shame. Resentment, too, because he’s the very reason her life has been upended.

Being a wealthy investment banker, Ada anticipates Jonathan’s disdain for her situation but it never comes. Instead he mentions a vacant apartment he owns and offers to rent it to her for a reasonable price. Not willing to look a gift horse in the mouth, Ada accepts his offer. But what she doesn’t realise is that the apartment is right next door to Jonathan’s, and becoming his neighbour means getting to know him a whole lot better.

Quietly Yours is book #3 in L.H. Cosway’s Quiet Love Series and can be read as a standalone.

Review

5 stars!

Quietly Yours is another 5-star read in the Quiet Love series. Jonathan and Ada meet under tragic circumstances when Ada must deliver the news of her dad and his mom’s sudden passing. Jonathan wants nothing to do with Ada because he didn’t approve of his mom marrying her dad, and when he finds out that she has been living at his mom’s house, he wants her out as soon as possible. But when he discovers his actions caused her to be homeless, he offers her a place to stay and instantly she is his next door neighbor. Getting to know each other changes everything and these two realize that first impressions couldn’t be more wrong.

Jonathan and Ada start off on the wrong foot that forces them into enemy territory until they can look past their misconceptions and actually get to know each other. Jonathan is cold in the beginning and Ada doesn’t want anything to do with him. After she moves in next door, he starts to see she is nothing like he thought and he realizes she’s actually someone he wants to get to know.

Jonathan knows when he is in the wrong and is good at making it up to Ada when he makes mistakes. Ada has such a big heart and has been through so much that she knows second chances are important. These two are so good at balancing each other out. Ada’s grief is real and I felt it. She faces it head on and fondly remembers her father and her stepmom.

Jonathan faces a different kind of grief. Not only did he lose his mother, he lost her before they mended their broken relationship. I hurt for all he felt when coming to terms with what will never be. I love that Ada was there for him though it all, even when he struggled. And Jonathan treated her like a queen and could feel how big her heart was.

It is full of heat and humor, and delivers all the feels in their love story. I love the progression of their relationship, the storyline, and the secondary characters. It was so good to see Maggie and Shay (from Quiet Types) and Charli and Rhys (from Quiet Longing), and I thought all the residents and staff at Pinebrook Lodge were hilarious.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Ada and Jonathan’s love story was the perfect addition to the series!

It might’ve taken tragedy to bring us together, but from that tragedy grew something wonderful.
